The whole world is going through a very tough time now! The coronavirus (COVID 19) effects almost every country of the world. Is has been declared as a global crisis. Besides fighting against the coronavirus, this is the time to be digitalized, to carry on our economic activities using modern technology. From the beginning of the Corona outbreak, Daffodil is conducting its all administrative and academic activities through online. Also, we have taken various initiatives to fight against the deadly COVID 19. This newsletter is our mouthpiece. Through this platform, we have attempted to gather a glimpse of activities that the Daffodil Family has done during the last couple of months. AUPF 2019

Research Team of DIU and Cardio Care General Hospital developed and released beta version of AI solution to detect and track 'COVID-19'

A team of researchers from Department of Public Health, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Unit of Daffodil International University (DIU) and Cardio-Care General and Specialized Hospital has developed a new diagnostic modality to detect COVID – 19; where the researchers are using AI software to detect Covid-19 by analyzing the chest X-ray or images from lung CT scans. By using this AI technology, the health workers/Doctors can instantly diagnose if the suspected person has COVID – 19 or not. Currently, this AI technology can differentiate between COVID 19 and other respiratory illnesses including Pneumonia. Doctors can then follow up with other examinations and lab tests to confirm a diagnosis of the disease. In this research, researchers found that the sensitivity of this AI modality for COVID-19 infection is 96%.

Seminar on ‘Outbreak and Prevention of Coronavirus (COVID – 19)’ held at Daffodil International University

With the recent emergence of deadly Coronavirus,Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University and Cardio Care Specialized and General Hospital organized a seminar on ‘Outbreak and Prevention of Coronavirus (COVID – 19)’ today on 3rd March 2020 at 71 Milonayoton of the university. Professor Dr. Meerjady Sabrina Flora, Director, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh; and the national spokesperson Coronaviruswas present at the seminar as the chief guest. Professor Dr. Golam Rahman, Former Chief Information Commissioner, Information Commission, Government of Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh was present as the special guest.

On 12 March 2020, Thursday under the tagline “Precaution Is Better than Cure”, Daffodil International School English Medium, Dhanmondi branch trained students in proper hand wash and other safety measures to be taken as precautions for the pandemic.
